Arthritis Foundation   Arthritis disease, treatment, and support information.

Arthritis Research and Therapy   Find out about the latest arthritis research here.


Cancer
Breast Cancer Group   A very helpful breast cancer support group, located in Palo Alto, California, which has current research information, recommended books, members' stories, as well as links to other helpful web sites.

R. A. Bloch Cancer Foundation   Richard Bloch won his battle with lung cancer in 1980, then created the non-profit R. A. Bloch Cancer Foundation to help others. One of the best features of the site is the many wonderful articles by Mr. Bloch and his wife.

Letter to all newly diagnosed cancer patients   An inspiring letter from Richard Bloch, who won his battle with lung cancer, telling others diagnosed with cancer what they need to do to beat it.


Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS)
CFIDS/Fibromyalgia Self-Help   Excellent site with lots of articles. CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome)/Fibromayalgia Self-Help is a non-profit organization that helps people with those diseases.


Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America

Crohn's Disease FAQs   A good description of the disease, its causes, its symptoms, its history, and information about treatments and the side effects of drugs used to treat it.

Crohn's disease pathophysiology and conventional and alternative treatment options   A very good article.

Bacterial and viral causes of Crohn's disease   A well written article that describes possible causes of Crohn's colitis and how diet, herbs, and probiotics can help treat them.

Crohn's Disease and Stress   Ed Kalski's site is about the many ways Crohn's disease and stress affect each other, but it has lots of other helpful information as well.

Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Pages   As the site owner says, a "place on the WWW for those of us living with these diseases, and our families and friends, to find information, solace, and encouragement."

Jini Patel Thompson's Site   Jini is the author of Listen To Your Gut, The IBD Remission Diet, and the e-book Listen To Your IBS. Her site has IBS and IBD natural healing forums, a list of health practitioners whom others have recommended, excellent articles about the causes of and natural treatments for inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, and helpful links.


Diabetes

American Diabetes Association

National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse   Basic, treatment, and clinical trial information about diabetes.


Fibromyalgia

The Fibromyalgia Support Center   A very helpful resource for people with fibromyalgia. It has over 80 articles to help them learn about and treat this painful disease.

FibroCare Center   Information about Fibromyalgia and the FibroCare Program offered at Point Chiropractic Center in Point Pleasant New Jersey, a multifaceted program to help people who suffer from Fibromyalgia improve their quality of life.

National Fibromyalgia Partnership   Has lots of disease and research information about fibromyalgia.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Jini Patel Thompson's Site   Jini is the author of Listen To Your Gut, The IBD Remission Diet, and the e-book Listen To Your IBS. Her site has IBS and IBD natural healing forums, a list of health practitioners whom others have recommended, an excellent article entitled "Natural Remedies That Work: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)," and helpful links.


Lupus

Lupus Foundation of America

The Lupus Site   Has lupus symptom, diagnosis, and treatment information. Also has a chat room and message boards where you can talk to others with lupus.


Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease Network   Very good medical and support information for Lyme Disease; also has links to other helpful sites.


Multiple Sclerosis

Myelin Repair Foundation   Their mission is "to rapidly accelerate the discovery of myelin repair treatments to improve the lives of people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS)."

Good Docs   A state by state list of doctors who have been given high marks by people with MS.

Parkinson's Disease

National Parkinson Foundation gives patients and caregivers the resources to help them fight back.

Parkinson's Disease Society   A UK organization dedicated to supporting all people with Parkinson's, their families, friends and carers. Has lots of helpful information for people newly diagnosed, for young people with Parkinson's, and for families and caregivers.

General Chronic Illness Support, Connection, and Information Links


Yale New Haven Health Library   A wealth of medical information: in-depth descriptions and research about hundreds of diseases including symptoms, prevention methods, and treatment options; information on more than 2,400 prescription medications; self-help resources; complementary medicine; and more.

RemedyFind   Has people's evaluations for different standard and alternative treatments for many different illnesses. Go there to find about about what has worked for others, or to tell what has worked and hasn't worked for you.
Note: the link now takes you to Revolution Health, because that company has acquired RemedyFind. The treatment evaluation information from RemedyFind is on the new website, but it's harder to access, since the new website is not as user-friendly as the former one was.


Diane Kerner's website   Author Diane Kerner has created a community-oriented resource for people with chronic illnesses, which has articles on healthy living, how to deal with financial concerns, and other topics. A free monthly newsletter offers a strong dose of encouragement and information on stress reduction and the importance of keeping a positive mindset.

Shepherd of Hope Christian Chat and Chronic Illness Support   Has a very supportive chat room that has special guest "speakers" from time to time, a list of coping suggestions, and other helpful resources.

Jigsaw Health   Has lots of helpful data, including information about chronic illnesses and their causes, how to find a good doctor, alternative treatments, supplement advice, and more.

Living and Laughing with Chronic Illness   An inspiring, informative, and humorous real life account of living with chronic illness (Crohn’s disease).  

HealingWell   Features health articles, medical news, doctor-produced video webcasts, community message boards and chat rooms, email, newsletters, books and reviews, and resource directories on diseases, disorders and chronic illness.

Stanford Health Library   Lots of medical information. Also offers free research at (800) 295-5177.

ClinicalTrials   A US government site that lists late-breaking medical news and new medical research studies that need volunteers.

Pat Sullivan's Health Blog   Pat was a long-time sufferer of Candida, Chronic Fatigue, Chronic Insomnia, and Irritable Bowel and Adrenal Fatigue Syndromes. With diligent research and by proactively finding treatments that worked--including mercury detoxification, he cured himself. He writes about current illness and wellness topics and issues.

Life Challenges   Over 600 pages of articles, self help tools and inspirational personal stories to help people face and transform chronic illness and other adversities.

Courage to Give   Jackie Waldman, who has multiple sclerosis herself, has written several inspiring books with stories about people who, suffering from chronic illnesses and other serious physical and emotional hardships, have gone beyond their own suffering to help others; they all found that the contributions they made played a large and essential role in their own healing process.

Psychologist Lori Rokicki's site   The links by disorder button halfway down the page provides links to information and support groups for many chronic illnesses.

Natural Therapy Health Consultant Jonathan Campbell   Jonathan's informative site describes natural therapies for chronic fatigue, type II diabetes, cancer, hepatitis C, and many other illnesses and conditions.

People's Medical Society links page   Many links to excellent alternative medicine sites.

healingdeva.com   Alternative medicine descriptions and information. Also lists top alternative doctors.



Help and Advocacy Links


Needy Meds   A website that maintains a list of drug company programs that provide free medications to those in need, and also a list of national and local programs that provide assistance to people with chronic illnesses.

Helping Patients.org     A web site that helps connect patients with different prescription drug assistance programs.

Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illnesses   Free information, advice, and advocacy services from attorney Jennifer C. Jaff and other volunteers trained to help you secure your rights.

Patient Advocate Foundation   seeks to safeguard patients' access to medical care, maintenance of employment, and financial stability through mediation with insurers, employers, and creditors.

The Ability Link   provides members--women who are unable to work fulltime due to chronic illnesses or disabilities--contract positions in a variety of fields and support to help them successfully complete their contracts.

AbilityLinks  (not connected with The Ability Link above) matches people who, because of illness related and other disabilities aren't able to work the standard 40 hour week, with accommodating employers. Non-profit AbilityLinks is based near Chicago but is expanding to provide nationwide service.

Job Accomodation Network  a free service of the Office of Disability Employment Policy that gives people with disablities, including chronic illnesses, resources to help them find a job or start their own business. Has a toll free number to call.
